St. John Paul II School
of Polish Language and Culture
St. John Paul II School of Polish Language and Culture has been operating at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Bridgeport since 1997. The school was founded by Ewa Kamińska and Katarzyna Idzik.
For many years, this institution has passed on to new generations what is most important for preserving national identity — the Polish language, as well as the heritage of history and culture. Our mission is closely tied to upholding core Christian values, reinforcing them, and nurturing them in the hearts of young Poles.
The school is proud of numerous initiatives that have resonated strongly within the Polish-American community, such as:
– awarding the Order of the Smile to Father Łucjan Królikowski,
– commissioning artist Rafał Pisarczyk to create a commemorative mural of St. John Paul II on a street in Bridgeport,
– naming the street corner where the school building is located “St. John Paul II Corner,”
– establishing a Papal Center,
– supporting numerous charitable initiatives, and more.
At our school, we offer education for children from preschool through 8th grade. After completing 8th grade, students have the opportunity to continue their studies at the high school level. Our students consistently achieve very high scores on all exams they take.
The school is not only an educational institution — it is also a place where the entire Polish community can find a sense of unity, mutual understanding, and sometimes even support in times of need. The values we uphold are Faith, Knowledge, and Upbringing. We believe these three inseparable elements ensure a future built by wise, compassionate, and good people — individuals who were once students at our school.
