Domestic Church

The Domestic Church helps sacramental spouses draw from the grace and power of the sacrament of marriage, teaching them how to live out and celebrate this sacrament throughout their lives. When beginning their married life, each couple begins to build a home where new life is to arise and grow in an atmosphere of true love. They will have to fight more than one battle to preserve that love. That is why it is essential to find time to sit down together and reflect on their marital and family bond. Unfortunately, even the best Christian marriages—those that do not forget to kneel together before God—sometimes fail to find time to sit down and talk calmly with each other in God’s presence.

The marital spirituality proposed by the Domestic Church includes community prayer, monthly formation meetings, and marital dialogue.
Within the Domestic Church, Sunday Masses for children are also organized, as well as the Good Friday liturgy for children, and thematic Masses such as “A Heart for Jesus” or “Flowers for Mary.”

Couples who belong to the Domestic Church are called to serve their own family, understood as building a community of faith, hope, and love—a community where there is an awareness that all members are children of the One God and therefore possess their unique worth and dignity, regardless of age or stage of development.
This awareness enables a generous attitude of service toward the family and its individual members, as well as openness to receiving the gift of service from others. In this way, the family community becomes a great opportunity for the holistic development of the person—for growth in God, self-knowledge, and learning how to love.

Small children, raised in an atmosphere of conscious Christian community, naturally grow in faith, learning about God through family prayer, later through reading the Word of God, and through family-based Bible groups.

The opportunity to ask questions about faith—on par with other areas of life—the sense of acceptance and love, and the awareness of God’s love become a tremendous source of strength and balance for a child as they enter adolescence and begin discovering their own path in life.
Spouses, in turn, have a greater chance of building a healthy love, free from deep wounds, and of supporting each other in maturing on both the human and spiritual levels.
