Wojownicy Maryi
Warriors of Mary is a Marian community dedicated exclusively to men, which was founded during open formation meetings in Bridgeport, CT. The good fruits of formation within the community include:
– Prayer
– Giving witness and example of faith
– Sanctifying oneself and one’s family
From these fruits flows the realization of one’s vocation, which is a gift from God, and the desire to spread devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Formation is based on the Word of God found in Scripture, the teachings of the Catholic Church, the Holy Sacraments, penance, and the Rosary prayer.
Any man aged 18–50 who feels a deep love for the Immaculate Virgin Mary, has a sincere intention to serve God, and desires to completely entrust himself to Jesus Christ through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, may join the Warriors of Mary.
The patron of the community is St. John Bosco, known as the “Father and Teacher of Youth.” The community is a response to the spiritual and moral needs of men. Its founder is Salesian priest Fr. Dominik Chmielewski.
Each member of the community is committed to:
– Building relationships within his family, the community, and beyond
– Actively participating in the life of the community and the Catholic Church
– Physical development, self-discipline, and giving good witness through personal conduct
The charism of the community is to imitate the virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and to offer oneself completely to Her Immaculate Heart and protection, for the greater glory of the Church and the victory of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
To become a Warrior of Mary, one must:
– Complete the full formation process according to established rules (detailed in the community’s statutes)
– Prepare for and successfully pass a brotherly interview with the group leader (or another person designated by the regional coordinator and leaders) and be approved for the Knighting Ceremony
– Receive a recommendation from the group leader and the regional leader
– Participate in the ceremonial knighting held at the end of the formation year
– After the knighting, continue formation and renew the sword promise once a year (for already-knighted Warriors)
Meetings are held on the first Saturday of every month at St. Michael the Archangel in Bridgeport, CT.
